Beautiful Christmas greeting picture!!!!

Sometimes things are not what like they look like !!!!

After sending this Christmas greeting picture out to a lot of people, I know through the fly fishing scene, I have received so much positive response. People wrote how idyllic it was, and how beautiful and charming this little river was.

BUT!!!!

This place is located outside Copenhagen, in a national park called "Dyerhaven" (The Animal park) because it filled with big deers and used to be the Kings hunting ground back in time.
But this river which runs through this national park, is SO polluted that it is a mystery that anything can survive for more than 10 minutes in this so called river.

The reason why I expose this truth is because i feel a bit tired of all the shit, that goes on around me. The politicians talk but do not act - nothing new about that behavior.
Today my friend Svend Erik send me a video from Danish TV which show a new environmental treat occurring in the Danish oceans, as if we didn't have enough already. It is a innovative algae brought to this region with the blast water from ships - again!!!

Here is a link to this horrifying video (it's in Danish, but I think it will make sense anyway)

Very, very sad indeed!!!

Target says NO to dirty gold

3rd largest retailer signs on to
the Golden Rules of Responsible Sourcing

On March 24th Target, the third-largest retail chain in the U.S., signed on to the No Dirty Gold campaign’s "Golden Rules" for more responsible metals mining.
In doing so, Target sent a clear message to its consumers and suppliers:  they want nothing to do with dirty gold.
Because Target is one the top 10 retailers of jewelry in the country, its support could significantly boost the effort to clean up gold mining. To date, more than 70 other jewelry retailers with combined US sales of more than $13.5 billion - nearly a quarter of the US market - have signed on.¨

This has happened because of "consumer power"

More than 100,000 people have signed on to the No Dirty Gold consumer pledge. And thousands of these No Dirty Gold members, and over 20,000 members of change.org, the world's fastest growing platform for social change, have called on retailers and mining companies to provide alternatives to dirty gold.

Spirit Bear

National Geographic photographer shooting a photo series of a white bear, a so called Spirit Bear. It's a fantastic video, which make you think about what will happen to all these life forms in the future, with a rapidly changing world. I hope we humans will show respect and humbleness enough to protect these areas of pure unspoiled nature beauty.
Hope you will enjoy this movie as much as I did.

Huge Char

A friend of mine send this to me and I must say this is a fantastic char, and it was caught on a fly - a perfect catch - but the best part is that this beautiful fish was released right after the photo was taken - that's the spirit guy's :O)

This huge char was caught by Craig Blackie (holding rod). It weighed over 24 lbs and is estimated to be the largest fly-caught char on record. Both guys in the shot are fish biologists and they specialize in salmonid morphology and taxonomy.

Sea trout fishing in Denmark.

Had a little trip the other day to a place called Isefjorden, but the water temp was only 1.2 degrees, which is still a bit too cold to create any action.
But I brought the camera, and here is a few shot from that morning - No fish were caught, but I had a good time with my friend Svend who is a sea trout freak like myself :O)

Say NO to genetically modified salmon - Take action now!!

The FDA is close to approving genetically modified salmon for human consumption. This decision could be disastrous for wild salmon in the U.S. and around the world. We simply can’t let it happen. If genetically engineered salmon are produced on a commercial scale, fisheries experts say they would inevitably escape into the wild. And if that occurs, it could cause catastrophic damage to the last remaining stocks of wild salmon. Please, sign our petition today and tell the FDA to say NO to genetically modified salmon.
