Thanks for the positive words :O)
I agree...Dear Dan
Thanks for the positive words :O)
I agree on the part where you mention the omega 3 benefits vs. very few cancer cases, BUT this is only a small part of all the other problems following this industry (environmental problems, deceases, see lice, damage of wild stock which result in a total collapse of local first nation lifestyle - and lots of local habitats are depending on this free nature protein recourse as well )
So all together our politicians should use much more energy to understand the huge environmental consequences this industry have on our oceans. But $$$ is a very import an issue here!!!.Besides all these problems mentioned above, there is also the very serious problem of using 2-3 kg. of vild fish (brisling, obis ect. ) to produce 1 kg. of farmed salmon - so I have a very hard time liking this industry all together. And I would never dream about eating one of these (P)armed fish - too many strange chemicals in their food. Thanks again for your comments Dan. All the very best. They seem to have concentrated solely on the risks of eating the fish and ignored the health benefits that this cheap source of omega-3 makes available to the public. If you take this into account the best predictions show that rather than saving lives you actually result in more deaths (calculate 40 people may contract cancer from the fish vs. about 5000 dying from cardiovascular issues which could have been helped by the omega-3).

Really enjoy the blog and would love to see farmed salmon being produced in a way that doesn't impact the wild stocks but this is not the way to fight it in my opinion.

DanDan Pricehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04383057466861456791noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1740014605505631196.post-58808135436613870912012-03-17T09:34:13.545+01:002012-03-17T09:34:13.545+01:00Thank you very much :O)Thank you very much :O)Pool 32 Adminhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01130761373455569875noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1740014605505631196.post-20341945548629166302012-03-17T07:47:59.733+01:002012-03-17T07:47:59.733+01:00very nice posting.Ishida India Pvt. I want to acknowledge that we received your input, even though we are not able to respond individually because of the large volume of e-mails we are receiving on this topic.
During 2011, EPA is completing a scientific analysis of the Bristol Bay watershed to better understand how future large-scale development may affect water quality and the salmon fishery. The information we gather will help guide our future actions to protect the waters and promote sustainable development. EPA’s efforts will focus on two areas -- the Nushagak and Kvichak watersheds -- that are not currently protected as parks or wildlife refuges. Our process will include scientific peer review, tribal consultation, federal and state agency participation, as well as public and industry input.

To receive EPA e-mail updates about the progress of Bristol Bay watershed assessment and learn about upcoming public involvement opportunities, please follow this link to subscribe to the EPA Bristol Bay listserv .

As it becomes available, information will be posted on the EPA Bristol Bay website

Sincerely,

Richard Parkin, Associate Director
Office of Ecosystems, Tribal and Public Affairs, EPA Region 10Pool 32 Adminhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01130761373455569875noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1740014605505631196.post-36366156883066753812011-02-25T07:05:33.537+01:002011-02-25T07:05:33.537+01:00Earthquake in Canterbury New Zealand has touched t...Earthquake in Canterbury New Zealand has touched the world over...
